Oh hey 30 days…you got here in a hurry! Can you believe it?!!! Time flies when you are having fun. Now more than ever employers have high expectations of their new hires! In your interview, you dazzled them with all you said you were capable of, and now they are ready to see this talk in action.
Here are the Top five tricks for nailing the first 30 days in your new digs.
1) Take the temperature. Now is a good time to have a check in with your supervisor- ask what you are doing right, and what you could improve on. (And be ready for both answers)
2) BRING IT. Ask if there is anything else you can do or take off their plate to make their life easier! Try to understand what your manager needs- put yourself in their shoes!
3) Smile Emoji. Let them know how happy and appreciative you are to be there and part of the team!
4) Save The Drama. If there are any issues, now is the time to fix the problem- staying quiet and waiting for it to be a bigger problem or crises later won’t help. Make sure to come from a diplomatic, positive place and be calm and solution oriented. (If you need any advice with this last one we are happy to be a sounding board)
5) Time is Money ...and this is an obvious one, but always be on time! In addition, don't always start packing up at 4:59pm. Check in to see if they need anything from you before you are planning to go home for the day. Go above and beyond to build rapport and earn trust!
